Bigger bus now running between Rooster Rock and Multnomah Falls

Thousands have ridden the Columbia Gorge Express since the pilot service launched in May. Every weekend, ODOT is evaluating the service and making improvements to ensure all riders have a safe, enjoyable ride.

Multnomah Falls is the number one recreation destination in Oregon. On sunny weekends, that means big crowds—which can lead to long lines for the Gorge Express at Rooster Rock. On July 25, we introduced a new, bigger bus to shuttle riders from Rooster Rock to Multnomah Falls, increasing capacity and helping to reduce wait times. This bus will remain in service for the remainder of the season.

Want to avoid the lines?

  • Visit at off-peak times – before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m.
  • Explore the eastern Gorge and return to Multnomah Falls later in the day.
  • Start your trip at Gateway Transit Center – you can even bring your bike! The Columbia Gorge Express provides 12 roundtrips from Gateway Transit Center in Portland to Multnomah Falls.
